We aim to rebrand leadership away from one of achieved status, to a role based on our capacity and willingness to support our community.

Imagine what our society would feel like if individuals took more ownership of how their communities operate, they were trained on how to collaborate effectively, and they had an ample supply of informed mentors or friends to support them during hardship.

We believe that we need more people to adopt the role of leader in our local communities in NEW ways. We believe that finding and resourcing emerging community leaders right now is the MOST ESSENTIAL step to our future well-being. These roles are “the bones” of society. These connections are slow to develop, but become the necessary foundation for social capital and community wellness.

It is OUR INTENTION to find, compel, resource and support people to adopt this new way of leadership.

WE PROMOTE AND RAISE OUR COLLECTIVE SOCIAL CAPITAL THROUGH THREE DIVERSE SERVICES.

Community Cultivators

Events that Move Community beyond the status Quo

Designed to create connections, provoke relational insight and offer pragmatic skills, our community cultivators bring together experts, heart-centered leaders, and citizens who care about specific community issues.

Cultivators usually center around curated conversations. Our formula for success is:

  • Mindfully collaborating with local industry leaders to curate an intentional panel discussion that fuels our civic awareness.

  • Incorporating small group discussions to foster deeper engagement.

  • Presenting provocative facts and reflection questions to stimulate critical thinking and personal personal insights and group dialogue.

  • Ensuring an approachable format that facilitates open communication between panelists and participants.

These events equalize the perspectives of both panelists and participants---fostering a non-hierarchical approachable atmosphere.

Our goal is that people who joins us emerge with deeper social insights and a strong commitment to fostering social capital in their daily lives..

UPCOMING SPRING 2025 Community Cultivator

Spreading Civility in our Political Discourse

The goal of this specific session is to curate an infrastructure of positive relationships across our differences and divisions.  Conversational civility is a form of activism in changing our community norms from “Us vs Them” to embracing ideological diversity. This session provides diverse insights on how to make that shift.

Panelists and Participants will focus on how to:

·       Move beyond ideological tug of war with people in your personal lives who think differently on any political issue

·       How to reduce fear about politics, or allow differences to damage you or a relationship

·       How to reduce dehumanization during conversations or in our personal public responses

·       What to do during stale-mates of opinion, perspective and preferences

Past Cultivator Events

In November of 2024, we gathered an impressive panel and moderator together with a vibrantly diverse audience at Grassroots Kava House. Together, we fostered more collaborative and informed awareness regarding the people who serve, and deeply benefit from, our local Hospitality Industry. Our aim was to educate and learn from one another, to consider our personal impact on the humans within this system and to raise our conscious choice making in how to honor and support their valuable contribution.

MENTORING MATTERS NOW MORE THAN EVER

THE WORLD WAITS FOR YOUR UNIQUE CONTRIBUTION

WE SUPPORT YOUR UNIQUE PATH TO MAKE IT COUNT.

WHAT IF YOU HAD SOMEONE WHO offered you informed guidance, tailored support, and real-world insights exactly when you needed it?

Mentors boost people’s confidence, follow through on their own action plans, and navigate life’s challenges. This service is especially valuable for those who don’t typically have access to a mentor in their industry, or those who need immediate and short-term personal support.

Studies show that mentored individuals are more likely to experience career advancement, greater job satisfaction, and improved emotional well-being (Eby et al., 2013). Free mentoring removes time and financial barriers, making these life-changing benefits accessible to everyone—regardless of background.

Mentorship isn’t just about advice—it’s about connection, encouragement, and opening doors to new opportunities.

Free Leadership provides up to 12 free hours of 1:1 mentoring sessions a month, solely to individuals who are in the hospitality, wellness, non-profit, or a service-based industry. We train at least 4 mentors/social wellness facilitators a year to provide mentoring for free.

Mindful Men: It’s not about what you know. Or about who you know.

It’s about crafting relationships around the shared intention to grow, and to share more.

2025 marks the 3rd year Free Leadership Inc has facilitated Mindful Men. In two years, over 180 men have joined a two hour, free experiential leadership training session. Two third’s of men who join one time, return again. Together, and with expert facilitation, the group focuses on how they can improve their leadership and their support of others in their community. These men are diverse in age, life-style, professional industry, economic and relational status, political and religious affiliation, and ideological attitudes. They don’t sign up. They choose to show up.

And we believe this act ripples out to create social capital, social trust and social progress where they show up next.

Meet Mindful Men…our flagship population service.

The National Institute of Health and other well established community health research findings continuously indicate that men are less likely to access, and also to benefit from, mental health and/or counseling services. Initial research suggests that role models and friends are one of the key interventions that improve men’s help-seeking attitudes, intentions, and actual actions. These peer figures often convey accurate information and key psychoeducational material, and often motivate men to persist in behavior change efforts and build on positive “male” traits (e.g. responsibility, direction and strength).  Our Mindful Men Mentoring Certification Program educates men in the community with the knowledge, tools and skills to become this type of mentor and friend to their peers, neighbors and possible clients.

Mindful Men has a free meet up every first Monday of the month (that’s a mouthful!). It’s just one of our multi-focused services to generate and nourish leadership in Tampa Bay.

It’s a Fact

Informed and supportive relationships prevent common mental health issues from becoming worse.

Are you able, ready and willing to help others who show signs of mental health challenges? Do you know how to respond in the moment?

Would a standardized, evidence based certification enhance and support the ways you’re already supporting those around you?

Becoming certified in Mental Health First Aid is something you can do that benefits all those around you—research shows YOUR own mental health improves after taking the course as well.

— Wellness Provider and Coach

YOU CAN BE THE DIFFERENCE

Mental Health First Aid Certification raised our capacity to prevent challenges from worsening, course-correct stigma and inaccurate assumption, and also alleviate feelings of isolation and shame.

The course will prepare you to more accurately notice and respond to mental health challenges by:

  • Understanding the importance of noticing signs of mental health challenges in others. Improve your ability to see and track those signs versus your assumptions about others or “how things work”.

  • Doing your part to reduce stigma and barriers to mental health challenges and effective responses.

  • Improve your motivation to approach a person when you see signs. Improve your effectiveness in conversing with them about their mental health.

  • Being fully present when a person is sharing. Understand how to listen, without giving advice or fixing.

  • Helping you embrace your role in supporting adults, with clear boundaries.  Get better at giving facts and helpful guidance versus providing solutions.

  • Getting clear on how to help others develop and follow through with their own self-support strategies. Getting informed on when to contact professionals (both local and national) and the process for doing so.

“I am more motivated to initiate conversations with others about possible signs of mental health challenges because of this certification.”
— 5013c Nonprofit Executive
“The small groups, lectures, and exercises drove quickly helped me learn real-life skills to prevent mental health challenges from becoming worse.”

BUSTING BURN OUT

Burnout isn’t just a personal struggle—it’s a community-wide challenge that can quietly erode well-being, productivity, and connection. According to the World Health Organization, burnout is now recognized as a syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress, but its impact stretches far beyond the office. Communities facing economic strain, caregiving responsibilities, or social injustice are especially vulnerable.

That’s why training communities to recognize and respond to burnout is not just beneficial—it’s transformational.

Burnout training helps individuals understand the signs of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced motivation. It equips people with practical tools for self-care, stress management, and boundary-setting—while also fostering compassion, connection, and collective resilience. Research shows that when communities are educated on how burnout develops, there is a measurable decrease in stress-related illnesses and an increase in engagement, empathy, and mutual support. People learn to show up not only for themselves, but for one another.

By investing in burnout education, we’re planting the seeds of a stronger, healthier future—where thriving replaces surviving, and where every member feels seen, supported, and empowered to make a difference.

Let’s build a culture of care—together.
